Wispr Flow: voice typing and free weekly limits
Wispr Flow turns speech into text in other apps. Its current Free plan has separate desktop and mobile word allowances. Review the resulting text and privacy settings before using it for sensitive work.

Dictation versus meeting notes
Dictation writes what you say into a chosen text field. Notetaker records or processes meetings and voice memos into notes. They have different permissions, platform support and retention concerns. The pricing page lists dictation on Mac, Windows, iOS and Android, while Notetaker is currently listed for Mac and Windows only. Do not assume installing dictation provides every note-taking feature on mobile.
How to use it, step by step
- Begin at wisprflow.ai and select the download for your supported device. Review current compatibility and plan details.
- Follow the setup prompts and inspect microphone or other permissions before allowing them. Avoid starting in a field containing secrets.
- Select a low-risk text box and dictate a short sentence. Watch which app and field will receive the output.
- Review the text for names, dates, amounts and punctuation. Voice input can sound natural while producing the wrong detail.
- Use dictionary or snippet features where appropriate, but check that repeated phrases do not add unintended content.
- Watch the account's remaining weekly allowance. Desktop and mobile have different quotas, not one universal unlimited free balance.
- Before using Notetaker, confirm platform support, storage terms and everyone's consent to recording or processing.
- If upgrading, verify plan, billing period and the account being charged. Manage cancellation through the actual billing provider, not by deleting the app.
Current free word limits
The current pricing page and Android help describe 2,000 words per week on desktop and 1,000 mobile words shared between Android and iOS. Pro provides unlimited dictated words under its plan terms. Older pricing variants surfaced different Android wording, so this guide uses the current main page and the dedicated limit article. Check the live account usage display if an offer or trial changes your entitlement.
How usage is counted
The Android help says each dictation counts from its final text and retries are not counted again. Its usage interface and blocking rules can change, so follow the app's current warnings. Do not assume you can move to another mobile device to reset the shared allowance. A weekly word budget is different from a number of audio minutes.
Language support and India use
The vendor advertises more than 100 languages. That does not establish reliable transcription for every accent or mixed-language sentence. A Kerala user should test the exact Malayalam/English workflow they need. Read the output rather than automatically sending it to a group or customer. Clear speech and a quiet setting can help, but are not guarantees.
Privacy before dictating
Review current data-sharing, training and retention controls. The pricing page describes opt-out and storage controls, so do not interpret its privacy language as a universal promise that every account processes everything only on-device. Avoid dictating passwords, card details, health records or confidential work without an appropriate approved workflow. Meeting recordings can include other people's private information.
Student plans and paid subscriptions
The Android help describes qualifying Student accounts with unlimited dictation, but eligibility needs verification through the current offer. Being a student does not automatically change the Free account. Paid prices can vary by option or store, and a subscription bought elsewhere may coexist with a separate store subscription. Check for duplicate billing and confirm the final INR amount.
