Check medicine prices with NPPA. Match the pack and date.

By AiCoN | Published 30 October 2026 | Checked 30 October 2026

Before comparing a medicine bill with a price found online, check that both describe the same medicine and pack. NPPA's Pharma Sahi Daam public search shows medicine records, scheduled status, price fields and details. We completed a brand search and opened an exact pack's price detail. Its own disclaimer calls the information indicative, and the displayed MRP had an earlier date.

Quick facts

Run a public price lookup

  1. Open the official Pharma Sahi Daam search.
  2. Select Search Medicine Price. The page also has a separate ceiling-price mode, which we did not test.
  3. Type the brand printed on the pack and choose the exact autocomplete suggestion. We typed dolo and selected DOLO. Simply typing without choosing a suggestion is not the completed selection we tested.
  4. Press GO and wait for the result table to populate. Our brand search returned 11 entries across different strengths and dosage forms.
  5. Use the result table's Search box to narrow the displayed rows. We typed 650. This is a table text filter, not clinical matching.
  6. Match the full medicine name, composition, strength, dosage form and pack size. Open the M.R.P. value to read the detail and its date.

Pack price, unit price and date are different

The filtered row was labelled DOLO 650 MG TABLET 15. Opening its M.R.P. value showed brand DOLO, company MICRO LABS LTD, composition PARACETAMOL TABLET 650 MG, dosage form TABLET and pack size 15. The detail displayed an M.R.P., an M.R.P./Unit and “M.R.P. as on Date: Aug-2026”. We checked in October, so the check date is not the price-record date.

Actual medicine price detail showing composition pack size MRP record date and indicative-data disclaimer
Actual detail, 30 October 2026, around 4:05 PM IST. The record says Aug-2026. Numbers in this screenshot are historical test evidence, not today's selling-price advice or a legal finding.

Do not compare a pack of 15 tablets with a pack of 10, or a tablet with a suspension, drops or infusion. Do not treat the M.R.P./Unit number as the whole pack price. Read the provider's unit and pack labels rather than assuming all prices refer to one strip.

The result table separately labels a column “Ceiling Price (Excluding Taxes)”. That is not the same field as the pack M.R.P. A difference between those numbers alone does not prove overcharging. We have not calculated a current legal maximum, verified applicable taxes, checked the batch in a shop or reconciled later price changes.

Indicative data, not a verdict on a chemist

The price-detail disclaimer states: “The information available in this web application is based on available data and is indicative”. Treat an apparent mismatch as a reason to check the exact record, label, bill and current official information, not as an automatic accusation.

NPPA's public disclosure page distinguishes scheduled ceiling prices and other price regulation, and says notifications are published on its website. The Kerala Drugs Control Department's April 2026 list also specifies units and an effective date. These are different source documents, not a guarantee that every portal record reflects every later change.

Do not switch medicines from a price list

Clicking the medicine name opened another panel headed Market Price (Available Brands), with a list labelled Substitutes. We did not validate the listed brands' availability, current prices or clinical suitability. A shared ingredient name and a lower displayed price are not permission to change treatment.

Ask your prescribing clinician or pharmacist before any substitution. This guide does not recommend a brand, dose, frequency, treatment, or change from a prescribed medicine. The example strength is only a search test. Do not delay care to search a price table.

Where complaints fit

A 25 June 2026 PIB release says Pharma Jan Samadhan grievance services were integrated with Pharma Sahi Daam. The tested search page displayed Lodge Complaint. We did not open, submit or test a complaint, and do not promise its outcome or response time.

If you need to pursue a suspected pricing issue, first check the exact medicine and preserve the relevant label and bill. Read the current official complaint instructions before submitting any personal information. We have not established that a mismatch in this demonstration is an offence.

Why this tool is useful

Its value is the structured regulator-source record: medicine identity, scheduled status, pack/unit fields and price date. An undated search snippet or chatbot answer can miss those details. The portal can support a careful question about a bill, but does not replace medical advice or a current regulatory determination.

Privacy, costs and limits

No account or payment was requested in our desktop lookup. That does not mean medicines are free, or that the website collects no technical usage data. We did not audit its privacy policy, register, upload a prescription, file a complaint, buy anything, call anyone or test an app.

The address did not encode our chosen brand or table filter. Opening the link does not reproduce our results; select your own exact record again. The page needed autocomplete selection and had some overlapping table controls at our wider viewport. Screenshots preserve the original interface rather than redrawing it. This is an independent AiCoN guide, not an NPPA publication. Explainer by AiCoN - not a government publication.
