Lola travel: free discovery, annual paid commitment

By AiCoN | Published 7 October 2026 | Sources checked 7 October 2026

Lola combines travel and experience suggestions with booking. Its paid monthly labels have a twelve-month commitment, and free membership does not make travel purchases free.

What can Lola do?

Lola's September launch describes conversational discovery and booking for hotels, restaurants, events and activities. It uses partner availability and pricing and learns preferences over time. Its partners include Booking Holdings brands and experience providers.

The company says recommendations are not influenced by advertising, paid placement or sponsorship. That is its stated policy, not an independent audit or proof that every suggestion is the best option.

Free membership versus travel costs

The launch offers free membership for discovery, personalised recommendations, availability and booking. The travel or event purchase itself still costs money. Check the supplier, actual total and cancellation rules for each booking.

The release describes access as open, while the current privacy notice still says limited invite-only phase. These public descriptions do not settle every account's admission. This guide did not create an account or verify India-specific access.

Paid plans carry a first-year commitment

The launch lists Plus at US$5 per month and VIP at US$25, each with a twelve-month commitment. At a sourced approximate ₹96.43 per dollar, the monthly labels are about ₹482 and ₹2,411. Twelve months at those rates totals US$60 and US$300, approximately ₹5,786 and ₹28,929 before taxes and conversion.

The current terms-conditions page says you owe the full first year's membership fee even if billed monthly or cancelled during that year. After the initial year, it describes automatic month-to-month renewal at the current rate until cancellation.

An older terms page describes monthly or annual fees without the same wording. Do not choose the cheaper interpretation. Read the exact checkout terms and cancellation date before subscribing. A monthly price label does not mean a cancel-anytime first month.

Perks are not universal discounts

The release describes preferred hotel rates, selected dining benefits, airport services and concierge access. Savings apply to qualifying inventory; a percentage claim does not mean every hotel or trip qualifies. Some airport and dining perks are tied to particular partners and locations.

Compare the final offer against alternatives for your dates and needs. The terms say benefits can change and a removed benefit does not necessarily entitle you to a membership refund. Check that a perk you value is actually available before paying.

Booking approval and supplier rules

The privacy notice says the app does not automatically buy or charge for a booking; users must click approval. Membership auto-renewal is a separate charge mechanism. The terms also allow collection of relevant no-show or cancellation charges.

Transactions remain subject to provider terms. Verify traveller names, dates, destination, total, cancellation and refund conditions. The current terms restrict membership transactions to the registered member's own personal use, so do not assume you may book for unrelated third parties through your benefits.

Privacy and AI memory

Lola's current privacy notice says private chat histories and prompts can improve its conversational skills, with an email opt-out to support@lola.com. Its promise not to train public or third-party models on connected Google data is narrower than no training on any information.

Connecting email or calendar adds access. The policy describes sorting relevant emails and extracting facts from full bodies, and passing prompts to contracted AI infrastructure providers. It also describes exact saved information and inferred preferences. Check both layers, disconnect unnecessary accounts and request corrections when assumptions are wrong.

How to try it carefully

  1. Verify official access and start with free discovery if available.
  2. Use non-sensitive preferences before connecting accounts.
  3. Check privacy settings and the training opt-out route.
  4. Compare a real option and its provider conditions.
  5. Before a paid tier, read the first-year commitment and actual India-relevant perks.
  6. Approve a booking only after the exact details and charges match.

For Kerala travellers

Check airport choice, baggage, connection time and local currency directly. A globally advertised concierge or dining perk may offer little value for your itinerary. Do not pay a year of membership on the assumption that every partner benefit applies locally.

What changed since the original post?

This guide adds the first-year liability, public access conflict and private-chat training distinction. It keeps the free tier separate from paid benefits and purchases.
