Ksheerasree: Kerala dairy farm aid applications open until 7 November
Kerala's Dairy Development Department has opened online applications for its 2026-27 Milk Shed Development and Dairy Farm Hygiene Improvement schemes. If you keep cows, want to start a dairy unit, or plan to upgrade a shed or buy a milking machine, you can apply on the Ksheerasree portal from 23 October to 7 November 2026. The department's own notice names schemes from one-cow units up to 20-cow units, a 10-cow smart dairy farm for young people, and aid for milking machines and cattle shed construction.
Quick facts
- Window: the department's notice on the Ksheerasree portal says applications are invited online from 23 October 2026 to 7 November 2026 at ksheerasree.kerala.gov.in. Samayam Malayalam (26 October) reports the same 7 November last date.
- What is covered: per the official notice - cow-unit schemes of 1, 2, 5, 10 and 20 cows; a 10-cow smart dairy farm scheme for youth; financial aid to buy a milking machine; cattle shed construction aid; dairy farm modernization and mechanization; dairy farm hygiene improvement; the special rehabilitation package for coir, cashew and fisheries sector workers; and the Idukki package (Idukki district farmers only).
- How to apply: register on the Ksheerasree portal, log in, pick the scheme and submit. The portal is run by the Dairy Development Department with NIC. Its live counters show about 2.92 lakh farmers already registered and 6.41 lakh applications filed, so this is a working system, not a pilot.
- Subsidy amounts: the portal's public pages list the schemes but do not publish this year's subsidy rates or unit costs. The notice itself tells applicants to contact the block-level Dairy Development Unit for details. Confirm the exact assistance for your scheme there before counting on a figure - any amount you see quoted elsewhere should be checked against that office.
- Who it suits: the notice invites "those interested" in the listed schemes. The smart dairy farm is aimed at young people starting out; the unit schemes fit both new and existing dairy farmers. Registration as a farmer on the portal is the first step either way.

How to apply
- Open ksheerasree.kerala.gov.in and use Registration to create your farmer account (keep Aadhaar and bank details handy; the portal has a guide for checking Aadhaar-bank seeding, which benefit payments use).
- Log in, open Schemes, and choose the scheme that fits - for example the 10-cow smart dairy farm if you are a young first-timer, or milking machine aid for an existing farm.
- Fill the application and submit before 7 November 2026.
- Then contact your block-level Dairy Development Unit to confirm documents, subsidy rate and next steps.
