KSCSTE Science Literature Awards 2025: ₹50,000 for Malayalam science books, apply by 10 November

KSCSTE is inviting Science Literature Awards 2025 entries for Malayalam science writing. Each selected award carries ₹50,000, a plaque and a certificate. Completed applications must reach KSCSTE by Tuesday 10 November 2026, 5:00 PM IST. This is a competitive award for published work, not guaranteed student assistance or payment to every applicant.

What is eligible
- Authors or publishers can apply directly, in the prescribed form only
- Works first published in 2025. Proof of the first publication year is needed
- Reprints, revised, enlarged and later editions are not considered
- Textbooks used in any education syllabus are not considered. Abridged versions or a few chapters alone are not considered
- A book can be entered in one category only. To enter more than one category, send a separate application for each
- Translation category: the translation must be a proper Malayalam translation of a science book, from any language. Send a copy of the original, and copyright or permission papers where needed

- Proof of first publication year, and any supporting papers
Post it to the Director, KSCSTE, Sasthra Bhavan, Pattom, Thiruvananthapuram 695004, so that it arrives by 10 November 2026, 5:00 PM. Late applications are not considered.
The form requires a signed declaration that the work was first published in 2025 and is not a reprint, revised, enlarged or subsequent edition; false information can cause rejection or later award withdrawal. The guidelines require proof of first publication, even though the form labels that evidence “if required”; prepare it and ask KSCSTE if uncertain. The translation category additionally needs the original book and applicable copyright/permission papers. Do not treat the contact email as permission to send an incomplete entry.
How to apply: step by step
The current page links PDF and Word forms, not an online submission form. The guidelines require the completed physical application and enclosures at the Director’s address by the receipt deadline. Posting on the last day is not timely receipt. Check dispatch time and confirm receipt with KSCSTE; the listed email is a contact, not a verified substitute submission route.
- Open the official KSCSTE Science Literature Awards page: kscste.kerala.gov.in/science-literature-awards-sla. It shows "Applications invited for Science Literature Awards 2025 (Last Date: 10.11.2026, 5 p.m.)".
- Download the application form (PDF) from the same page and print it. Read the notice (English) and guidelines (Malayalam) PDFs first.
- Tick the category and complete the full four-page current form: work title, first publication year/date, publisher, ISBN if available and copyright owner; applicant name, date of birth, education, occupation/institution, address, mobile/email; prior applications/awards, other recognition, a description of no more than 500 words, publication details and translation permissions where applicable. Sign/date/place the declaration. The current form has no print-run field.
- Gather the enclosures: three copies of the book or work, the author's detailed biodata, proof of first publication year, and any supporting papers.
- Post the filled form and enclosures to: Director, KSCSTE, Sasthra Bhavan, Pattom, Thiruvananthapuram 695004. It must arrive by 10 November 2026, 5:00 PM - late applications are not considered.

How winners are chosen
An expert committee reviews the entries and KSCSTE takes the final decision. Only the selected winners are informed officially. KSCSTE can withhold an award in a category if no suitable work comes in, and can change the terms.
