Kerala SCERT textbook PDFs, classes 1-10: free download by class, subject and medium
Kerala's State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) lets anyone download its revised textbooks as PDFs, with no login. We opened the pages and tested the downloads on 1 November 2026. The files are split across several pages by class and by part, and the PDF you open shows its own edition year, so match it with the book your school uses before you rely on it.
Which SCERT page has which class
- Classes 2, 4, 6 and 8: one page, scert.kerala.gov.in/2-8-tb. Each class lists its titles by subject and medium (Malayalam, English, Tamil, Kannada), with one download link per title.
- Classes 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9: two pages, Part 1 and Part 2. They are reached from the SCERT home page link "I, III, V, VII, IX".
- Class 10: a separate page, scert.kerala.gov.in/class-x, whose title says textbooks and work books, Part 1. We did not open its files.
SCERT's menu also links to a Textbook Archives page that asks for a login, and to the Samagra textbook portal. We did not test either.

How to download
- Open the SCERT page for your class from the list above.
- Find your class heading (for example STD - II) and the row for your subject. The medium is in brackets, for example "Maths (English Medium)".
- For classes 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9, check both the Part 1 and Part 2 pages, because each part is a separate file.
- Select the title. The links open the PDF as a Google Drive download, with no sign-in in our tests.
- Open the first pages of the PDF and note the part or volume and the edition year.
What we tested
We opened the links for 14 titles across the three class pages (one maths or English medium title per class group) and each one returned a downloadable PDF without login. We then read the first pages of four files:
- Std II Maths, English medium, Part I: 57.1 MB, 88 pages, "First Edition - 2025".
- Std VIII Maths, Malayalam medium, Vol 1: 22 MB, 120 pages, "First Edition: 2025".
- Std IX Physics, English medium, Part 1: 3.7 MB, 88 pages, "First Edition: 2024".
- Std I English Reader, Vol 1: 14 MB, 96 pages. We did not find an edition line in its first pages.
So the edition year differs from class to class. Do not describe any file as the 2026-27 edition: the pages do not say so.
What we did not check
We did not open every link, so a file may be missing or renamed. We did not open the class 10 files, the Textbook Archives or the Samagra portal. The classes 2, 4, 6, 8 page lists one file per title, and the ones we opened are Part 1 or Vol 1; we did not look for later parts of those classes. File sizes are large for some titles (57 MB for Std II maths), so use Wi-Fi.
Cost and mistakes to avoid
The downloads are free. We did not sign in, pay or submit anything. The most common mistakes are opening the wrong page for your class, reading only Part 1 when your school also uses Part 2, and picking the wrong medium. Always compare the edition year and the part number on the cover page with your child's book.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a login?
Not for the class pages and the files we opened. The separate Textbook Archives link asks for a login.
Where is Part 2?
For classes 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9, on the SCERT Part 2 page. For classes 2, 4, 6 and 8 we saw only one file per title on the page.
Is this the 2026-27 edition?
The pages do not say. The files we read show First Edition 2024 or 2025, so check against your school's book.
