Kerala PSC profile photo rules: 150x200 px, 30 KB, name and date on the photo

By AiCoN | Published 1 November 2026 | Sources checked 1 November 2026

The Kerala Public Service Commission (PSC) says an application can be rejected if the photo in your One Time Registration profile does not carry your name and the date it was taken. Here are the photo rules from the PSC's own instruction sheet, and the check you will see before you submit.

The photo rules

The PSC's "Instruction Regarding Photo" sheet (a PDF linked from its website) says the uploaded photo stays valid for 10 years, and that your name and the date the photo was taken are compulsory on it. The other rules on the sheet:

The check before you submit

The PSC's "how to apply" guide says that when you click Apply Now, a "Verify before submitting" page shows the last photo uploaded to your profile. It says that if your name and photo date are not on the photo, the application will be rejected, and that changing the photo after the notification's last date will not count for that application.

  1. Type the name as it appears on the photo, and the date on the photo, in the two boxes on that page. The guide says the name must match the name in your profile.
  2. Check that your uploaded signature is complete and clear.
  3. Tick the four declarations: the photo bears your name and date, it is your own and was taken within ten years, name, date and face are clear, and the signature is yours and legible.
  4. Click Next.

Signature file

The PSC's older registration instruction (a Malayalam PDF in a legacy font) gives the signature scan as 150 by 100 pixels and under 30 KB. We could read the numbers but not every word of that sheet, so check the current upload screen for the limit.

How to get a photo that passes

Take the photo against a white wall, then add your name and the date at the bottom of the picture in a photo editor, and save it at 150 by 200 pixels as a JPG under 30 KB. Free photo shops usually do this in a few minutes. Do it before a notification's last date, not on the last day.

What we did not check

We did not log in to a PSC profile, upload a photo or submit any application, and nothing was paid. We have not tested whether the upload screen accepts a file at exactly these limits. The photo sheet and the how-to-apply guide are the PSC's own PDFs and can change, so read the current ones before you apply.

Frequently asked questions

How long is the photo valid?

The PSC sheet says 10 years from the date on the photo.

Is there a fee to register?

We did not check fees. Read the notification of the post you want.

Where do I log in?

Through the "One Time Registration Login" on keralapsc.gov.in. The how-to-apply guide says you enter your user ID and password and then an OTP sent to your registered mobile number and email.
