What it is
Kaggle Learn is a set of short courses on programming, data science and AI, run by Kaggle. Its Learn page says: "We pare down complex topics to their key practical components, so you gain usable skills in a few hours (instead of weeks or months)." The page lists courses such as Intro to Programming (Python, "if you have no coding experience"), Intro to Machine Learning, Pandas, Data Visualization, Intro to SQL, Intro to Deep Learning, Computer Vision, Data Cleaning and Intro to AI Ethics. It also lists guides, including 5-day courses on generative AI and AI agents "in partnership with Google". This is an AI and data skills resource, not an AI tool you chat with.
Is it free?
Yes, per the page: "The courses are provided at no cost to you, and you can now earn certificates." The official certificate help says each completed course earns a completion certificate, available under Learn > Completed > View Certificate. The Intro to Programming page labels its estimated five hours as time to earn a certificate and its cost as no cost. That is a course-completion certificate, not a degree, professional licence or job guarantee. We did not complete a course or issue a certificate.
What you can do with it
- Start from zero. Intro to Programming is for people with no coding experience, per its description.
- Learn AI basics. Intro to Machine Learning, Intro to Deep Learning, Computer Vision and Intro to AI Ethics are on the list.
- Pick a short guide. The Guides section lists self-paced collections, including generative AI and AI agents courses in partnership with Google.
What to watch out for
- It is aimed at people who want to code. Most courses use Python, SQL, TensorFlow or R. They are not for casual app use.
- Account. Kaggle's Terms say you "may be required to sign up for an account". We did not check whether the courses can be opened without signing in, and we did not take a course.
- Certificates. The official help now supplies the completion and viewing steps above. Check your course requirements and account progress; do not assume the separate community Guides or intensive-event pages offer the same certificate.
Privacy and data
- Kaggle's privacy policy says that when you create an account you provide your name and a password, and that you may provide an address, phone number or other personal information. It says that when you are not signed in, it still stores information tied to your browser, app or device.
- The Learn page says Kaggle uses cookies from Google to deliver its services and to analyze traffic.
- The Terms say children who are not of legal age to enter a contract should read the children's privacy section and contact Kaggle Support about parental consent.
- Kaggle collects uploaded content, including notebooks and datasets. Check whether you are keeping something personal, sharing with named people or publishing it. The Terms grant different access rights for those audiences; public posting grants wider use rights. Use course examples rather than confidential work or personal records.
- Deletion is not instant erasure of every copy. The policy says server deletion generally takes about two months, often including a recovery period, and encrypted backups can retain data for up to six months. Business, legal, security and competition-integrity exceptions can last longer. Export work you need before deleting an account.
India
- We found no region limit on the pages we read, and no rupee price is involved. We did not test access from India.
