Free ISRO certificate course: Geocomputation and Geo-web services, November 9-13
The Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS) in Dehradun, ISRO's training institute, has opened registration for course 195, "Overview of Geocomputation and Geo-web services", a fully online five-day course running 9 to 13 November 2026 under its Data Science category. The calendar lists the last date to apply as 8 November 2026, 00:00 hrs, so apply by 7 November. IIRS says its online courses are completely free, individual registrations are approved automatically, and participants who put in the required activity get a Course Participation certificate they can download from the ISRO learning portal.
Quick facts
- Course: "Overview of Geocomputation and Geo-web services" (course 195), listed under the Data Science discipline on the IIRS course calendar. Geocomputation means computing methods applied to geographic data, and geo-web services deliver maps and geodata over the web; the portal had not posted a detailed syllabus for this run when we checked.
- Dates: live online sessions from 9 to 13 November 2026. The calendar lists "Last date to apply: November 8, 2026, 00:00 hrs", so treat 7 November as your practical last day.
- Cost: IIRS states its online courses "are offered completely free of cost" and that no course fee is charged.
- Registration: on the IIRS registration portal. The official guidelines say individual registrations are automatically approved, and login credentials for the ISRO learning portal arrive by email. You can also register through an IIRS nodal centre (usually a college), where the coordinator approves applications.
- Classes: live and interactive sessions streamed on the IIRS YouTube channel, with recordings available on the learning portal within 24 hours, per the guidelines.
- Certificate: the portal tracks "Course Dedication" - time on video sessions, daily quizzes, discussion forums and feedback. Meeting the minimum dedication earns a "Course Participation" certificate, downloaded from the portal. Participants registered through a nodal centre instead take an online exam (needs at least 70 percent attendance) and get a Merit Certificate at 50 percent marks.
Also open: RS and GIS in Natural Resource Management
The same calendar shows course 196, "RS and GIS Applications in Natural Resource Management" (16 to 27 November 2026), also open for registration with a last date of 15 November 2026. Two more courses listed for late November open registration on 3 and 4 November. All dates as shown on the live calendar on 27 October 2026.

How to register
- Open the IIRS registration portal at isrolms.iirs.gov.in/edusatregistration.
- Pick course 195, "Overview of Geocomputation and Geo-web services", from the course calendar and use the Apply button.
- Register as an individual unless your college is an IIRS nodal centre. Individual registrations are approved automatically.
- Watch your email for the ISRO learning portal login, and check the daily session schedule there once the course starts.
- To earn the certificate, keep up the daily quizzes and session activity the portal tracks.
Never pay for an IIRS course seat
IIRS warns clearly: its online courses are free, and you should not make any payment for them to any nodal centre, course coordinator, or any individual or organisation. If anyone asks for money for a seat or a certificate, that is not IIRS. Use only the official portal linked above.
