Gemini 4 Argon: announced prices, limited access

By AiCoN | Published 7 October 2026 | Sources checked 7 October 2026

Google has announced Gemini 4 Argon, but its cited rollout starts with trusted cyber defenders. Announced API prices are not proof that an ordinary account can use it now.

What is Gemini 4 Argon?

Google presents Argon as a frontier model for complex coding, enterprise knowledge work and cybersecurity defence. Its 30 September announcement describes use inside Google and a phased rollout through the Fairwind Program for trusted cyber defenders.

The same announcement says Google is engaged in the US government's voluntary pre-release access process and is gathering feedback before broader release. It plans access for developers, enterprises and consumers, starting with paid API customers and Google AI Ultra subscribers. Those are release plans, not a verified date for every account.

Can you use it now?

The official announcement checked does not establish general public availability, a public access date, a free tier or an India-specific date. An India-language version of the announcement does not itself make the model available in India. Check the current official product and account before buying a plan for this model.

Do not trust a third-party site claiming to unlock unreleased access simply because it uses the Argon name. Verify the provider, actual model identifier, billing and terms. This guide did not call an API or activate an Ultra account.

Announced API rates and approximate INR

Google announces introductory prices per one million tokens of US$2 input and US$10 output. At a sourced approximate ₹96.43 per dollar, those are about ₹193 and ₹964. Cached input is announced at a 95% discount to input, equivalent to US$0.10, about ₹9.64, during the stated introductory rates.

After the introductory period, the announcement says US$4 input and US$20 output per million tokens, approximately ₹386 and ₹1,929. The cited page does not specify the duration of that introductory period. Do not invent an expiry date or treat the lower rate as permanent.

These are announced API rates before a final account quote, taxes, conversion and any separate tools or services. They are not the Google AI Ultra subscription price. Check the live pricing surface when access becomes available.

Large output does not guarantee correct work

The announcement specifically describes an output-token limit of one million, up from 64,000. Output limit and context window are different concepts; do not silently replace one with the other. Tokens are processing units rather than a direct word count.

Google reports 77.9% on DeepSWE v1.1 and 51.3% on Zapier's AutomationBench, alongside other results. These numbers appear in Google's account of the model. This guide did not run independent benchmarks. A strong score does not prove a legal answer, financial decision or code migration is correct.

What developers can do while waiting

  1. Follow official release and pricing pages rather than paying for an unverified access offer.
  2. Prepare a small evaluation set based on your real work, including failures and local-language cases.
  3. Separate accuracy, latency, token cost and tool permissions in the comparison.
  4. Keep confidential data out of unapproved services. Check processing location and terms when official access is offered.
  5. Use a test environment for code changes and retain human review, builds and tests.
  6. For security work, use only targets you own or are explicitly authorised to assess.

Safety and permission

Google describes prompt-injection defences, misuse safeguards, action monitoring and hardened test environments. It also describes special cyber access for trusted defenders. That is not a general permission to run unrestricted security testing.

Security claims cannot replace least-privilege tools or human approval of consequential actions. In its code-migration examples, Google itself describes automated and manual auditing, emulation testing and review before production rollout.

For India and Kerala

A student or developer can follow the release without committing to an expensive plan on a promise. Test Malayalam names, local formats and numerical reasoning once legitimate access exists. Enterprise users should verify that the chosen service meets their data and approval requirements rather than assuming a globally announced model fits every workflow.

What changed since the original post?

The archive post correctly described Argon as not publicly available through the checked announcement. This guide clarifies announced pricing versus actual access, the unspecified introductory duration and output-token limit versus context. It retains provider attribution for performance and release plans.
