What it is
SLAP, short for Shop Like A Pro, is a shopping app from Flipkart Internet Private Limited. Its App Store listing calls it a "conversation-first AI shopping app". You type what you want in plain English, for example a blazer under a budget, and it suggests products from Flipkart's catalogue.
Is it free
The app is free to download. The India App Store listing shows "Free", and we saw no subscription mentioned. The products you buy through it are not free, and we did not check delivery fees or prices.
What the listing says it does
- Chat search across fashion, mobiles, electronics, home appliances, groceries and beauty.
- Learning your style and budget over time.
- Virtual try-on for outfits, called Style Drops.
- Flipkart Minutes delivery for groceries and daily needs.
- Social Finds: DM an Instagram Reel link to find the product shown.
How to try it
- Search for "SLAP" on the Apple App Store or Google Play. The developer should be Flipkart Internet Private Limited.
- Install it and open the chat.
- Describe what you want and your budget, then compare the options with the normal Flipkart listing before you pay.
Limits to know
- The App Store listing says SLAP is in "exclusive early access" beta with "limited spots". You may not get in, and features can change.
- The App Store listing we read is iPhone only and showed version 0.8.6 from 25 June. The Google Play India listing is also live and names Flipkart Internet Private Limited as its developer. Both listings describe limited-spots beta access.
- The App Store privacy section says the app may collect data such as contact info, location and identifiers. Read it first. Google Play's developer-provided Data safety section says app activity and app info/performance may be shared with third parties, and location, personal info and other data may be collected.
- An AI shopper can pick the wrong item. Check price, size, seller and return terms yourself.
- We did not test the app ourselves.
