Design for Bharat 2027 is a national product design challenge from the Department of Youth Affairs, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, under the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue (VBYLD) 2027. The official page displays a 31 October 2026 submission deadline and "Registration Open". Participation is free of cost, as the official FAQ states. The REGISTER NOW button opens a login form; AiCoN has not verified the entry form or completed a submission.

How to apply: step by step
Public page and REGISTER NOW route rechecked on 24 October 2026. The button opens a MY Bharat login form; the post-login application and final submission remain unverified. The following account and application steps are guidance, not a completed entry test.
- Confirm you are eligible (aged 18-29) and pick your challenge - the Open Challenge or the Graduation Project Challenge - and one of the 7 categories.
- Register on the MY Bharat portal if you do not have an account: open mybharat.gov.in, click Register Now, then Register on the registration page. Enter your 10-digit mobile number or email, tap Get OTP, enter the OTP, then fill the sign-up form (name, password, date of birth, gender, state, urban or rural area, local body, PIN code), tick the Terms & Conditions box and Submit. You land on your MY Bharat profile, where you can also download a joining certificate.
- Sign in and open the Design for Bharat page: mybharat.gov.in/pages/design-for-bharat. Click REGISTER NOW in the "Registration Open" box.
- After signing in yourself, follow the form actually presented to choose your challenge and category, fill the application and upload your entry. AiCoN has not verified those post-login screens. The page's FAQ section (Q2-Q4) explains registration, eligibility and what the application needs.
- Submit before 31 October 2026.

Steps 4-5 happen inside your own MY Bharat login, so they are not shown as screenshots.
Video guides
We searched YouTube on 19 October 2026 for a step-by-step entry video for Design for Bharat on the current MY Bharat portal in English and in Malayalam. We could not verify one in either language, so we are not linking any rather than risk an outdated or unrelated video.
What happens next
- State or UT expert panels evaluate entries. State results are listed for 11 to 18 November 2026, with state award events between 15 November and 7 December 2026.
- The top entries from each state or UT go to the national stage. 36 national finalists are chosen.
- Finalists get online mentoring from 8 December 2026 to 7 January 2027, then in-person mentoring in New Delhi and a national showcase at Bharat Mandapam during VBYLD 2027 (10 to 12 January 2027).
Check these on the portal
- The DfB page lists online mentoring from 8 December, while the general VBYLD timeline lists 10 December. The detailed FAQ says final venue and dates will be communicated through official channels. Treat post-submission dates as listed plans, not final travel instructions.
- The poster file size limit is given as 20 MB per poster in the submission rules and 7 MB in the FAQ.
- The FAQ mentions a theme called Duality (Dwividhta) and submitting via a State/UT nodal institution. The process section says to submit through the portal. Confirm what applies to your entry.
- Detailed eligibility and stages depend on the competition docket or kit, which the page says will be provided separately. Registration is offered for further details; AiCoN did not verify when or how the full docket is delivered.
- Graduation project students have a separate challenge (DfB Graduation Project Challenge) with the same 31 October date.
We read the Design for Bharat page and the VBYLD 2027 page on mybharat.gov.in on 13 October 2026. We did not register or open the docket.
What changed since this post?
Official MY Bharat pages rechecked on 13 October 2026. The Open Challenge deadline remains 31 October 2026. The conflicting poster limits (20 MB and 7 MB), Duality theme and State/UT nodal-institution FAQ route are preserved rather than silently choosing one. No prize amount is promised. AiCoN did not register or access the full docket. No government emblem or logo is used. Explainer by AiCoN - not a government publication.
Sources: Design for Bharat 2027 (MY Bharat), VBYLD 2027 tracks and timeline. Checked 13 October 2026; apply steps and video search re-checked 19 October 2026. This is an AiCoN explainer, not a government publication.
Scoped recheck 24 October 2026: official Design for Bharat and VBYLD pages still display 31 October 2026, free participation and the stated eligibility. Public REGISTER NOW opens login; actual entry and docket remain unverified. Conflicting 20 MB/7 MB poster limits and other official-page differences remain flagged. Removed the first historical screenshot to avoid government-emblem imagery. No login, registration or submission.
