What it is
DeepL Translator is a machine translation service. You paste text or upload a file, pick a language, and get a translation. DeepL's language page lists Hindi, Bengali, Marathi, Gujarati, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Punjabi, Urdu, Nepali and Assamese among many others.
Is it free?
Yes, there is a free version. DeepL's terms say private and business use of DeepL Translator (free) is free of charge. DeepL's plan table lists the free version at 50,000 characters per month, 1 file translation per month (up to 5 MB), 1 glossary with 5 entries per language pair, and 1 saved translation. DeepL's help center says file translation needs a free DeepL account. DeepL also says it can change, reduce or expand the free services at its discretion. Paid Pro plans are separate.
India availability
DeepL's country page lists India under where paid plans can be bought. That page is about paid plans only. We could not find a DeepL page that states whether the free version is offered in India, so treat that as not confirmed by DeepL. The DeepL SE Google Play listing says the Android app is free to download, with some features needing a paid plan. That is not a confirmation of free-service access from India.
