boAt Crest AI: earbud price, AI units and privacy terms

By AiCoN | Published 8 October 2026 | Sources checked 8 October 2026

boAt Crest AI connects compatible earbuds to a phone-based voice assistant built with Google Gemini. The current Prime 800D page lists Rs 1,899 for the Crest AI bundle (a non-AI variant lists Rs 1,499); the standalone AI pack is Rs 399 for 100,000 units over 12 months. Hardware, included units and later AI access are separate things to check.

Check compatibility before payingThe feature page says Android-only. The terms say the pack is non-returnable and non-refundable once purchased and/or activated, including incompatibility outside the stated eligible devices.

What is Crest AI?

The official page describes a voice-first assistant used with compatible boAt gear and the Hearables app. It lists G-Assist, Crest Translate and Crest Ask. The vendor's privacy blog says conversational features use Google Cloud speech processing and need internet on the paired phone.

That is not Gemini running wholly inside the earbud. Basic audio controls and a cloud conversation are different functions. The blog names Android 12 or later and English listening at launch, while the product page advertises translation output in 25-plus languages. Translation output does not prove listening support in every language.

Hardware price and included units

The checked Prime 800D product page shows a sale price of Rs 1,899 for the Crest AI variant and a 100K Crest AI Units headline. This replaces the archive's launch-price range, not a promise that the price will stay fixed or that every colour and seller has the same deal.

Confirm the actual bundle, model, warranty, delivery and activation period before ordering. A marketing headline does not settle whether a second pack is needed immediately. We did not inspect a personal cart or make a purchase.

The standalone pack

Current listed priceRs 399 per device.
Allowance100,000 AI Units advertised.
Validity12 months from activation; ends earlier if units run out.
Unused unitsExpire, with no carry-forward or credit.

Units are a usage measure, not a verified fixed number of questions or minutes. Terms say daily/weekly caps and unit equivalence can change, with limits communicated through the app. Budget for usage and validity, not just the word yearly.

Device binding, refunds and replacement

The pack is linked to the device serial number used at activation. It cannot ordinarily be transferred. The legal terms provide a support-managed route to request remaining-unit transfer after a valid dead-on-arrival or warranty replacement; that is not self-service migration.

The product page says non-refundable after activation, but the legal terms are broader: once purchased and/or activated, regardless of non-use or dissatisfaction. They separate hardware warranty rights from the AI pack. Read those terms before paying, not only the shorter marketing bullets.

Android versus iPhone

The current Crest feature page says only Android devices. The legal terms link Hearables downloads on both iOS and Android. An iOS companion app does not establish iPhone support for this specific AI feature. Confirm the exact device and current AI eligibility with boAt before buying for an iPhone.

Activation route

  1. Check the official compatibility tool using the code on your device or box.
  2. Install the official Hearables app on a supported phone and connect over Bluetooth.
  3. Tap Explore Crest AI.
  4. Scan the QR code or enter the device serial number to verify.
  5. Review bundle units, validity, permissions and legal terms before activation or payment.
  6. Try a short non-sensitive question and check remaining usage in the app.

We did not pair earbuds, activate a pack, spend units or test voice quality. No listening or battery claim was independently tested.

Privacy is not an absolute no-data promise

The feature page says AI works without retaining personal data. The legal terms use narrower wording: the company does not, as a general practice, retain voice inputs or outputs. They also describe sharing necessary information for third-party features and contain a general-data retention clause of at least 180 days.

Those statements refer to different data and scopes. They do not justify saying no data ever leaves the device or nothing is retained anywhere. Read the actual privacy policy and consent screen. Avoid financial secrets, private conversations and sensitive workplace questions.
