How it works: step by step
Checked on the live portal on 19 October 2026.
- Open the official portal: cyberhackathon.bihar.gov.in and tap Register. The homepage shows the registration and submission window (both close 26 October 2026, 11:59 PM) with a live countdown.
- Read the "Before you register" checklist: only the team leader registers (not every member), the team name must be unique because it becomes your private GitHub repository's name, and a team needs 3 to 4 members including the leader. Keep every member's name, email, mobile, address, education details, GitHub username, college ID card and passport photo (JPG/PNG, 50-200 KB) ready, and finalise your problem statement before you apply. Tap I'm ready.
- Create the account: enter the team leader's email (a verification code goes there, so use an address you can open immediately), set a password (minimum 10 characters with an uppercase letter, a number and a special character), accept the terms and hackathon guidelines, solve the captcha and tap Create account.
- Verify the email with the code sent to it, then log in.
- Inside the portal, add your 3 to 4 members with their college IDs and GitHub handles, and pick one of the five problem statements. The roster and problem choice lock once confirmed.
- The team leader creates a private GitHub repository named after the team and adds every member.
- Build and commit as you go. A single last-minute code dump is grounds for disqualification, and so is any commit after 26 October.
- Record an 8 to 10 minute explainer and demo video. Upload it to your own Google Drive, share it as Viewer with the email on the guidelines page, and submit the link on the portal before 26 October, 11:59 PM. Submit early - the site warns about last-day server load.
- Experts screen the videos and shortlist 25 teams, published 20 November 2026.
- Shortlisted teams hand over repository ownership to the organisers. The online Grand Final is on 27 November 2026, with live demos, questions from judges and possibly a new dataset.

Steps 4 to 10 happen inside the team's own account, so they are not shown as screenshots.
Video guides
We searched YouTube on 19 October 2026 for a step-by-step registration video for this hackathon in English and in Malayalam. We could not verify one that matches this portal, so we are not linking any rather than risk a video about a different hackathon.
Rules to read
- No registration or entry fee
- Plagiarism, fake IDs and multiple team registrations lead to disqualification
- All team members must attend the final with a webcam, microphone and stable internet
- The organising committee's decisions are final
We read the official site, its guidelines, FAQ and problem statements pages on 15 October 2026. We did not register. Start early: the site asks teams to submit before the last day in case of server load.
