Apna AI Job Prep: AI mock interviews, and what is free
Apna offers an AI mock interview coach called AI Job Prep. Its page says free, and its terms say free-tier limits apply and paid plans exist.

What it is
AI Job Prep is a mock interview tool from Apna, the Indian jobs platform. Apna's terms describe it as a product for online job interview preparation using an AI-powered interview coach. You practise interviews for roles listed on the product by talking with AI agents that run the mock interview. Apna's interview prep page lists roles at named companies, and its job-prep page lets you request prep for any company and role that is not listed.
Is it free
Partly. Apna's interview prep page is headed "Practice interviews with Free AI Interview Coach". Apna's terms say it may allow a free trial, and that free trial and free-tier plans have their own usage limits. The pages we read do not say how many interviews or minutes the free tier gives. Paid weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly plans exist. Apna says weekly plans cap your minutes, and "unlimited" plans are still subject to fair-use limits. We found no price on these pages. The terms say amounts include GST and that Apna is not liable to refund payments. A plan may ask you to set up an autopay mandate. The terms say you must disable that mandate with your banking provider to stop automatic deductions; cancellation retains access for the remaining paid period. Check the exact price, included minutes, fair-use cap, renewal and cancellation route before paying. We did not inspect a signed-in checkout.
Is it available in India
Yes. Apna is an Indian company, its terms are under Indian law, and they mention GST. We did not check availability outside India.
Privacy before practising
Apna's general privacy policy covers data disclosed to its AI agents. It collects inputs, uploaded files and generated outputs, and may use personal data to develop, train and improve its services. Its terms say third-party AI platforms may process your data; the policy also allows service-related sharing with third parties under their own privacy policies. This is not a promise of private, on-device-only or no-training practice.
Use made-up examples where possible. Remove employer secrets, customer details, identification numbers, bank information and unnecessary contact details from answers or CVs. The terms also grant Apna a broad, perpetual licence to submitted content. Do not submit someone else's confidential material.
You can request access, correction, deletion or withdrawal of consent at support@apna.co. The policy says it has 15 days to respond, may verify identity, and does not guarantee immediate erasure. It may keep some data for legitimate business interests such as fraud prevention, and need not delete de-identified data. Deletion can remove service access; no fixed interview-record retention period was found in the policy we read.
How to try it
- Open apna.co/interview-prep/mock-interview or job-prep.apna.co.
- Pick a company and role, or request one that is missing.
- Review the displayed allowance and permissions before signing in. Start only if the offered free allowance suits you; do not approve a payment or autopay mandate just to try a free session. If microphone access is requested, allow it only when you intend to speak, then revoke it when done.
Limits to know
- You must be 18 or older to accept the terms.
- Apna says it uses third-party AI platforms and your data may be processed by them. Do not share Aadhaar, bank or other sensitive details in a practice answer. This line is AiCoN advice.
- Apna's terms say it gives no promise that the results will meet your needs or be free of errors. Treat the feedback as practice, not a prediction of hiring results.
- You may get calls and messages from Apna, as its terms say it can contact users by text, email and WhatsApp.
- We did not sign in, run an interview, upload a CV or buy a plan. Listed company names are practice targets, not proof of an employer partnership, real vacancy or hiring guarantee.
